Description
A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's Intel IOMMU (Input/Output Memory Management Unit) virtual technology for directed I/O (VT-d) subsystem. When a PCIe (Peripheral Component Interconnect Express) endpoint device, especially when passed through to userspace applications like QEMU or DPDK, unexpectedly loses its connection, the system can experience a hard-lock. This occurs because the IOMMU waits indefinitely for an invalidation request that cannot complete, leading to a Denial of Service (DoS) for the host system.
